Is OliveToast still in business?

Postby taapo » Sat Feb 28, 2009 1:23 pm

Hi John,

I was very hopeful for the Files app, as it did exactly what I wanted. However, there are still loads of improvements we as users would like to see. Most of these new features I would be willing to pay extra for. However, since Thu Nov 13, 2008 you haven't been posting any answers or comments anymore on this message board, and to me that looks scary. Could you let us know if there will still be updates in the future?

Greets,

Hi Taapo,

We're still very much in business: in fact we've just sent a new release of Files to Apple for review, this should be available on the App Store in a few days. This is a list of the new features:

* File list view now displays image thumbnails.
* Image viewer now supports the swipe gesture to move between images.
* Improved audio player with playlist and resume support.
* Added translations for: French, Italian, Russian, Polish, Spanish, Turkish and Simplified Chinese.

We're planning more new features for Files over the coming months, and hope to get the release schedule back to approximately once per month (which we managed July -> Dec 2008).

Best regards,

John

Thanks for the detailed answer. Very nice to hear you are still working on the app :)

Do you have any idea if you will implement an autoscroll function (see isilo) for the text documents? I've switched to iSilo for this function, but I like Files much better, so it would be great if that function could make the feature list as well.

Nice to see the playlist function!! Much appreciated. Hopefully I can ditch the native iPod app finally :)

You mentioned a future update... please include a search function within PDF files. That is the last feature to perfect this app. I went through 3 apps before using this one, and I must say that your app is by far the easiest to set up a connection to load my files to the itouch. I have a 3 gig library of PDF so being able to search file names and search within the document would be awesome.

The support for your app is also top-notch. I believe you were the only company that posted an actual video to show how to set up the network connection on multiple systems. Thanks for caring about the customer and continuing to perfect the product.
