Dates garbled on files upload through iTunes

Postby aviafun » Mon Aug 09, 2010 1:22 am

Upgraded to iOS 4 and Files 3.7.

- Files upload through WiFi, files list displays the datetime the file were uploaded.
- Files upload through iTunes' new upload facility through the Apps tab returns dates in the 1970-1971 range (ie 0 = Unix base date)

Unsure if this is a Files issue or iTunes issue ?
Unsure if original modification dates as stored on Mac/PC can be preserved through any of both methods ?

Please advise. Thanks for a great product.

Alexandre.

Hi Alexandre,

Thanks for reporting this issue.

Could I ask what version of iTunes are you running and also whether you are using a Mac or PC? We've not noticed this problem when syncing from iTunes 9.2 on Mac OS X 10.6.3, but we'll investigate further.

Regarding modification dates when uploading via Wi-Fi are you using Files' web interface, or a WebDAV client (e.g. Windows Explorer)? If the former it's a limitation of HTML upload, if the latter then setting the modification date is the responsibility of the WebDAV client. By default the mod date will be the upload date and most clients don't seem to bother to explicitly set the mod date to that of the original file.

Sorry for the delay.

iTunes 9.2 on MacOS 10.4.11, Files 1.7.1

Maybe my post was unclear:
- mod dates through Wifi are OK
- mod dates through USB + iTunes -> Applications tab -> Files sharing returns 1970 dates

Thanks.
Alexandre.

Thanks for the update.

It may be a OS X 10.4 issue, since we haven't noticed this on 10.5 or 10.6, we'll double check though.
