Feature request: re slideshows

Postby streetmentioner » Wed Sep 08, 2010 4:34 pm

Files HD has already become my favourite slideshow viewer but please can we have a slideshow option to look in subfolders so that i don't need to have one big folder with thousands of images in it.

BTW, whatever happened to the Dropbox support that was meant to appear end of June? That and the slideshow subfolders option would make this app perfect to me.

Apologies for the delay responding.

An slideshow option to recurse into sub-folders seems like a good idea. Would you want Files to show all the images in the current folder before dropping down into sub-folders, or process sub-folders as they are encountered (in the order they appear in the folder list).

Dropbox: we were distracted by other projects and updates over the Summer. We are now working full-time on Dropbox integration. I won't make promises regarding a release date, but it should be weeks rather than months.

That's really good news about Dropbox, thanks.

As for the recursive slideshows, let's say I have a folder hierarchy such as :-

Photos
> 2008
>> January
>> February
>> ...
>> December
> 2009
>> January
>> February
... and so on ...

If I navigate to January within 2008 I would want to see a slideshow of the files in that folder alone - which is how it works now. If I just navigate to 2008 I would want to see all the files for that year, starting with January, then February, and so on. If I choose slideshow at the root - in this case Photos - I would want all files from 2008 followed by all files from 2009, etc.
Furthermore, like the built-in Photos app, i'd like the option to display the photos in random order, which would treat all files from the current folder level downwards as one big list. You see, when I'm not using iPad I like to leave it running as a photo frame and don't want to have to keep manually changing folders.
Hope all that makes a bit of sense,
Regards, craig
