opening m4v files on ipad from browser

Postby netmgr001 » Tue Feb 21, 2012 5:00 pm

Hi

We're having trouble opening m4v files which have been exported from within imovie using
mobile device paramters, when accessing those exported files on the documents pro device in the safari browser on the ipad. The movies try to play in safari but we just get a no entry symbol over the play button.

does this indicate a problem more specifically with safari's ability to play m4v media ? We've
tried changing the extension of the file to mov and mp4 still no joy.

Are you using the built-in web browser in Documents Pro? Some embedded movies do play (e.g. YouTube), but it's possible that your movie is not embedded correctly for iOS. Does the same movie play in the Safari app?

Have you also checked that the movie plays back when copied and played in Documents Pro itself?
