Connection Problems

Postby Suva » Sun Feb 27, 2011 4:35 am

Hi Guys, I am having crazy connection problems since upgrading handsets to iPhone 4.

In a nutshell, I can connect to my laptop, but not my PC

I can connect to http://192.168.1.5:8080 (my iPhone's external wireless IP) on my laptop either by typing it manually into a web browser, or using netdrive web dav client.

BUT - This wont work on my PC??? I am using the exact same settings, I even turn off my AVAST firewall, but it simply wont connect...

Any ideas as to why I can connect fine to my laptop (which is also connected to the network via wireless connection) but not my PC? They are on the same network so I dont get it!! - Using XP on both laptop and PC, plus both systems running AVAST.

FYI - My wife also has the files app on her iPhone 3GS unit (with latest iOS platform) and can connect to both my laptop and pc without issue - her external ip is http://192.168.1.4:8080/

Also tried connecting files to 192.168.1.5:8080 on my kids laptop (also connected to my network) and had no problems! - It seems that my PC has some soft of issue with connecting to this specific IP address?

Any help would be greatly appreciated, as this is driving me nucking futs..

Cheers

Hi Paul,

What's the IP address of your PC? The fact that the PC can connect to Files running on your wife's 3GS rules out any network problems with the PC.

You can view the IP address by running the command "ipconfig" in a Command Prompt. It would also be interesting to know if the PC can reach the iPhone over the network: run the command "ping 192.168.1.5" in a Command Prompt.
