hidden files?

Postby aetherlantern » Mon Nov 29, 2010 9:19 pm

One of the options in the latest update is "display hidden files".

I am assuming this is seperate from password protection and guest access.

So... how does one hide files?

I connected to Files with my computer and pulled up the properties for a file and marked it as hidden but Files still showed it no matter what "display hidden" was set to.

so... as stated above... how do you hide individual files?

Like Mac OS X Files considers files or folders "hidden" if their name begins with a period e.g. ".hidden". By default such files will not be visible in Files until "Display Hidden Files" is enabled.

Note that if you connect remotely to Files via a WebDAV client (e.g. Finder or Windows Explorer) whether these "hidden" files are visible depends on the client. The Finder won't show these files by default, but Windows Explorer will. If you connect via Files web-interface this will respect the "Display Hidden Files" setting.
